我到底该不该读商科?

今天,我们邀请到3位校友分享她们就读商科的心路历程。她们也会谈谈时下热门的科系,希望你可以从中选择适合自己的课程。 映敏毕业于英国诺丁汉大学(大马分校)的商业经济与管理系。现为《南洋商报》的经济记者,负责采访和撰写财经新闻。撰写的文章专注于经济、企业、投资和产业领域。   菀林毕业于西澳大学,主修财务会计和企业金融,副修国际商业经济学。她如今是个房地产公司的董事经理。该公司主要向大马市场推广澳洲产业。   贝颖在大学时主修金融与会计,目前在银行的风险管理(Risk Management)部门工作。她曾在大马监控委员会(Security Commission)上班,毕业于INTI 英迪学院的双联课程。(1年在大Inti学院上课,两年在澳洲昆士兰大学。)   谢谢你们愿意跟我们交流。首先,能不能告诉我们,你们是怎么选择读商科的? 映敏:我一直到中五都是理科生,在中六时才转去文科的。当时已发现我并不喜欢理科,同时也觉得留在理科班并不能考到好成绩。我是在中六时对经济学产生了爱意(兴趣),因此就决定在大学时,选择与经济学相关的科系——商业经济与管理。 虽然这科系算是商业课程,通过这科系,我们得以学习从经济学的角度去评估和分析业务。 菀林: 我从小就对商科和金融有兴趣。我很幸运有个做生意的爸爸,他常常帮我以生意的角度去理解各个不同的行业。我在4sc1混了两个星期后(当时很迷失,对理科也完全不感兴趣),就转去读圣母中学的文科班。刚开始决定要转科时,确实有点难度,因为有些老师不支持这项决定。不过,我很庆幸自己转得早!不然,我就惨了咯。 贝颖: 我跟映敏一样,中四、中五是读纯理科(Pure Science)班。我是在就读大学预科班时,来个大转变的 。我觉得我不是读理科的“料”,同时也对金融有兴趣。很多人都不明白我为什么会转去读文科,大家都觉得,我去读个商业学位根本就是浪费人才,浪费了我的才能与天份。还好父母都很支持我的决定,所以才能顺利完成商业学士学位。 我对金融充满热诚,也深受在银行上班的亲戚影响。我选择会计学 ,则是觉得这一科可以跟我主修的金融科相辅相成。虽然我的会计科目都考得不错,但我觉得未来应该不会在会计行业发展,应该不会成为会计师或审核师(auditor)。 商业课程/商科的范围很广。当人们选择就读“商科”时,通常会选择哪些科系? 映敏:在诺丁汉大学(大马分校),最热门的科系是“金融、会计与管理”finance, accounting and management。当然也有其他没有那么传统的科系,如:“国际商业与管理”、“商业经济与金融”、“心理学与管理”。受欢迎程度不及金融、会计与管理。 菀林: 大部分人都会选择会计和市场学。 * 会计师扮演重要的角色。他们所准备的财务资讯,足以决定一家机构现在和未来财务地位。 * 市场推广对公司而言也很重要。除了确保公司在“对的时间”针对“对的市场”,推出“定价对的产品”外,也决定公司是否透过“对的管道”分销产品,以提升产品的销售量。 *企业家找到好的机会时,就会发展新业务。 此外,也不应该忽略那些比较“冷门”的科系。 人力资源、公共关系、风险管理、销售、行政等等,这些事务对一家机构成功与否,同样重要。 在决定你的未来时,与其问“什么最热门?”,还不如问“什么最适合我?” 到最后,你的热诚和自身的能力,才是重点!如果你的分析能力强,而且热爱数字和金融市场,你应该考虑金融和经济学。市场学则需要创意。而如果你喜欢跟人打交道,公共关系、销售,将会是你喜欢且能发挥所长的领域。 学生应该怎么选择主修科?有什么管道可以知道更多详情? 菀林:很多学院和大学在基础课程和第一学年时,都会为学生安排比较多元的科目,以让学生在选择主修科之前,能有机会接触更多的科目。 我的劝告是不要限制你的选择,要勇于不断的探索,并选择你有兴趣的。我知道很多人选择主修会计,主要是听说就读会计的话,他们的前途就会一片光明。记住,行行出状元! 热诚和正面的态度,将会把你推向成功之道。商科的所有领域,都同样重要。 贝颖:你要想清楚喜欢的,到底是销售、市场推广、金融、会计、商业资讯科技、人力资源?要尝试缩小范围。记住,你才是决定自己未来的人,选择自己真正喜欢的,因为大部分人选的,未必是你真心喜欢的。 映敏:我认同贝颖的说法。另外,选择科系、主修科的其中一个办法,就是看看各个科系包含哪些科目。拉曼大学、拉曼学院、诺丁汉大学、莫纳斯大学、泰莱商科学校的网站就提供各科系科目的简介。 如果你担心钱的问题,可以选择STPM。与商科相关的科目会计Perakaunan,Pengajian Perniagaan(Business Studies)、经济学(Pengajian Ekonomi
